The two haiku at the left had been written by the actors and have been signed with their haigo, Rikan and Raishi. Sangorô acted with the name Raishi until 1823, Kitsusaburô acted with the name Rikan after 1828. The picture was probably designed in the mid 1820s as a surimono; it has no publisher’s seal. |
